The number of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases originating in animals (i.e. zoonoses) have currently increased. About 60% of globally reported emerging infectious diseases are transmitted from wild and domesticated animals to human.

In the last three decades over 30 new human pathogens have been detected, of which 75% originated in animals. The twenty- first century has witnessed a wave of severe infectious disease outbreaks, not least the COVID-19 pandemic, which has had a large devastating impact on lives and livelihoods around the globe.

The 2003 severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus outbreak, the 2009 swine flu pandemic, the 2012 Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus outbreak, the 2013–2016 Ebola virus disease epidemic in West Africa and the 2015 Zika virus disease epidemic all resulted in substantial morbidity and mortality while spreading across borders to infect people in multiple countries.

COVID-19 pandemic has exposed the unpreparedness of governments in their capacities to prevent, detect, and respond to emerging infectious diseases.

Many healthcare systems have been overburdened and the coordinated efforts in different countries have focused on containment and mitigation, with varying degrees of success.

A delay in the detection of and response to infectious diseases can lead to the overburdening of already challenged health systems. Effective COVID-19 vaccines had came out very fast for this century but the ways to distribute COVID-19 vaccines in countries and implemented it effectively within a short period of time need a better way to use digital and health information technologies to manage the vaccine program among different target groups especially those who were vulnerable to develop serious illness or cause high mortality.

This calls for improved health information technologies and better surveillance system/health care management system among countries to have better effective responses to the pandemic in the future.

The explosion of artificial intelligence (AI) technology has heralded a transformative era across various facets of healthcare.

This profound impact encompasses domains such as medical education, 3-D imagery, surgery, management of polypharmacy, practice of personalized medicine, and evidence-based research publications.

The broad application of AI in healthcare is not without its challenges and concerns. These include potential oversight in detecting tumors and lesions in medical imaging, inaccuracies in drug recommendations, and the risk of bias during automatic processing, which could jeopardize patient well-being on a substantial scale.

The growing reliance on AI also raises the trend of potential unemployment, such as in the fields which rely on conventional interpretations of visual images through radiology films and pathology slides, adding complexity to the overall healthcare landscape.

A separate set of concerns revolves around data privacy breaches. Thus, ongoing supervision and management by experienced clinicians, healthcare researchers and administrators are required for proper implementation of AI technology in this evolving world of healthcare delivery.

Rehabilitation for various neurological diseases is essential for patients' recovery.

Traditional rehabilitation has been administered by experienced and well-educated therapists, relying on manual assessment and assistance.

However, this approach has limitations in terms of standardization, therapy dosage, motivation, accessibility, and the absence of direct intervention on the brain. Recent technological advancements offer various ways to enhance current neurorehabilitation practices. In this presentation, I will share some of my experiences regarding how these technologies, such as virtual or augmented reality, wearable or assistive robots, neuromodulation (noninvasive brain stimulation or brain-computer interface), non-invasive brain monitoring, and artificial intelligence, can be integrated into research to enhance neurorehabilitation.

The integration of metaverse technology into healthcare has the capability to revolutionize the healthcare sector, launching in a new era of intelligent and a patient-centered healthcare services and its implications for the future of healthcare.

In our study, examines at how metaverse technology may be applied to improve healthcare in a numerous domain, including medical training and patient engagement.

We emphasized children with disorders and those in Intermediate Care. Metaverse-based applications provide an immersive and dynamic experience, allowing healthcare professionals to communicate with patients more effectively.

The potential of the metaverse for healthcare education and training is also highlighted. Healthcare workers and patients can be trained using virtual reality simulations and metaverse environments, which provide a safe controlled environment in which individuals can experience difficult procedures and scenarios.

These simulations can improve the skillset of healthcare providers, ultimately enhancing patient care and better manage chronic conditions.

Moreover, policymakers, healthcare professionals, and technology developers must collaborate in order to create intelligent healthcare systems for the metaverse.

In summary, the integration of the metaverse into the healthcare sector offers effectiveness for the development of an intelligent, immersive, and patient-centered healthcare system.

This research shows the possibilities and challenges associated to this pioneering methodology, providing valuable perspectives on its potential to revolutionize all aspects of healthcare.
