The Medical Design Association (MDA) was established on September 9, 2018. The association is a non-profit organisation that uses design and applied science to solve humanistic and scientific problems in the medical field. It fully studies people and their behaviour and designs and develops human-centred medical products, systems, and services. The ultimate goal is to help patients receive better medical care and improve the quality of life of healthy individuals. The association’s tasks are as follows: organising academic conferences related to medical design; conducting academic research, lectures, training, discussions, visits, observations, and other activities related to medical design; collecting books and materials related to medical design at home and abroad; designing academic publications, collections of theses, newsletters, and books; handling contact matters with international medical design academic institutions; and handling other matters related to the development of medical design. Currently, the association is also a member of the World Design Organisation, which communicates and cooperates with member organisations on five continents in the field of design.
